Elements in the Sea

Painted using natural pigments with my in-house (and fav) chemist! Raspberries, wild berries, turmeric, matcha and peonies, with some help from my gouache set (for black and white) on A4 300 gsm cold-pressed paper.

A sombre sunset using natural pigments- a bit of chemistry and a lot of art! All colour elements have been locally sourced (some from my freezer, food cupboard and some from the streets)- matcha, frozen raspberries, turmeric, wild blueberries, peonies, with black and white from my gouache kit.

The process of making the pigments was fun with a dear friend, but painting itself was tedious with long drying times, insects attracted to the pigments, pigments changing colour as they dry- oh but wasn’t it fun!! And yeah, the painting smells now (not in a good way!) so try at your own risk!🙄
